As little as 1–10% of the population is needed to be resistant for demethylation inhibitor fungicides to be rendered ineffective. Following a single round of selection, the frequency increases by more than 15% with limited fitness penalty detected when no selection is present.

Temporary nutrient deficiency - a difficult case for diagnosis and prognosis by plant analysis
Plant analysis aims to either detect deficiency at the time of sampling (diagnosis) or predict its occurrence at a later stage of growth (prognosis). Its use is based on the presumption that the plant nutrient status will either be constant with plant ...

We screened a panel of 98 Brassicaceae genotypes (97 Brassica napus and 1 Sinapis alba) for cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) larval antibiosis. We found limited evidence for antibiosis across B. napus but consistent antibiosis in S. alba. Brassicaceae relatives may therefore better inform resistance traits for breeding.

Root‐focused resistance in chicory reduces defenses in leaves, impairing root aphids but enhancing foliar aphid performance. Selecting root resistance can create unintended trade‐offs across plant organs. Abstract BACKGROUND Plants are constantly exposed to a wide range of herbivores at both aboveground (AG) and belowground (BG) levels, involving ...

The economically valuable oil crop Brassica napus (AACC, 2n=38), which arose from interspecific hybridization between the diploid ancestors Brassica rapa (AA, 2n=20) and Brassica oleracea (CC, 2n=18), has a complex genome.

Studies were undertaken to compare susceptible and resistant host responses to Pseudocercosporella capsellae in cotyledons of Brassica carinata, B. juncea and B. napus in order to define the mechanisms of resistance in these three species.

Genetic regulation of glucoraphanin accumulation in Beneforté® broccoli [PDF]
Diets rich in broccoli (Brassica oleracea var italica) have been associated with maintenance of cardiovascular health and reduction in risk of cancer. These health benefits have been attributed to glucoraphanin that specifically accumulates in broccoli ...
