A New Phytochemical Screening Programme used for Crops grown with Organic and Conventional Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A broad screening programme, covering the most general phytochemical groups of compounds, was developed on the basis of Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC).

Thermal Strategies for Bioactive‐Rich Juice Stability: Metabolomic and Sensory Insights Into HTST and MTST Pasteurization

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 48, Issue 8, August 2025.
HTST (95°C/8 s) pasteurization improved antioxidant capacity and increased some phenolic compounds and carotenoids. Other compounds, such as neoxanthin and chlorophylls, suffered degradation after heating. Compared with MTST (76°C/19 s), HTST proved to be the best alternative for juice processing, maintaining key characteristics and potentially ...

Plant Morphology and a Phytochrome B Model Reveal That the Effects of Far‐Red Light on Shade‐Avoidance‐Like Responses Persist Under High Light Intensity

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 48, Issue 8, Page 5802-5818, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Several studies have concluded that high photon flux density (PFD) attenuates the effects of the red (R; 600–699 nm) to far‐red (FR; 700–750 nm) light ratio on morphology. However, the suppressive effects can depend on individual wavebands that modulate photoreceptor activity. We postulated that morphological responses of shade‐avoiding plants

Qualitative and quantitative evaluation of glucosinolates in cruciferous plants during their life cycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Glucosinolates produced by Brassica species were investigated in relation to biofumigation, a term used to describe the effects some allelochemicals, including glucosinolate derived products, may have on soil-borne pathogens or other herbivores.

Intraspecific chemical variation of Tanacetum vulgare affects plant growth and reproductive traits in field plant communities

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 785-801, August 2025.
We designed an experiment to test the effects of intraspecific plant chemodiversity at plant and plot level on plant performance, and showed that chemodiversity significantly shapes plant growth and reproductive outputs, with most pronounced interactions between chemotype and plot‐level chemotype richness on reproductive traits..

Exogenous stimulation of Tanacetum vulgare roots with pipecolic acid leads to tissue‐specific responses in terpenoid composition

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 891-902, August 2025.
Tissue‐specific changes in terpenoid patterns in tansy are induced by simulated induction of systemic acquired resistance using pipercolic acid. Abstract Tanacetum vulgare L., tansy, is a perennial plant with highly variable terpenoid composition, with mono‐ and sesquiterpenoids being the most abundant.

Effects of diversified volatile profiles on olfactory orientation of flea beetles Phyllotreta spp. and the diamondback moth Plutella xylostella

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 883-890, August 2025.
Diversifying the crop volatile organic compound profile can alter pest orientation: flea beetles were less attracted to chemical cues of the cabbage–faba bean mix than to those from cabbage alone, while diamondback moths remained equally attracted to both cues.

Current Status of Tomato Chlorosis Virus and Whiteflies in Potato Crops of São Paulo State and Virus–Vector–Host Interactions

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 74, Issue 6, Page 1585-1592, August 2025.
ToCV is not widely distributed in potato crops in São Paulo, but its transmission by Bemisia tabaci MEAM1 and MED and its high vertical transmission rate highlight the need for monitoring to mitigate its potential future impact. ABSTRACT Potato is a vital food source worldwide, but its production is frequently threatened by viral diseases.
