Nonproduction woody vegetation provides crucial overwintering habitats for spiders, enhancing biocontrol services in agricultural landscapes. Incorporating these habitats into land management supports ecosystem services and biodiversity. Abstract BACKGROUND Successful overwintering habitats are critical for the long‐term survival of biocontrol agents ...

The establishment of RAP in spring barley suppressed common weeds and reduced their coverage. This led us to the assumption of a natural weed suppression that can be considered for biodiversity‐enhancing approaches in weed management. For weed management, we recommend seeding mixtures of RAP, whereas topsoil translocation requires further investigation

Scaling species richness: When vegetation surveys don't match in plot area
This study shows that species richness in grasslands can be reliably harmonized across surveys differing in plot area. It also highlights that ecological indicator values remain largely stable across different plot areas, making them suitable for the use in data‐rich ecological analyses. Abstract Differences in study plot area remain a central obstacle

Guidelines for phytosociological classifications and descriptions of vegetation in southern Africa
Changes in the environment are first observed in changes in the vegetation. Vegetation survey, classification and mapping form the basis on which informed and scientifically defendable decisions on the environment can be taken.
