ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Volatility Estimation for Bitcoin: A Brazilian Market Evidence / Estimação de Volatilidade do Bitcoin: uma evidência do mercado brasileiro [PDF]
We revisit volatility throught GARCH models comparison and a Markov-Switching model appli- cation around Bitcoin Brazilian data. Besides exploring the optimal conditional heteroskedasticity model with regards to goodness-of-fit to Bitcoin price data, we ...

Pharmacogenetic testing in oncology: a Brazilian perspective
Pharmacogenetics, a major component of individualized or precision medicine, relies on human genetic diversity. The remarkable developments in sequencing technologies have revealed that the number of genetic variants modulating drug action is much higher than previously thought and that a true personalized prediction of drug response requires attention

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

The application of latent class analysis for diagnostic test validation of chronic Trypanosoma cruzi infection in blood donors [PDF]
The main strategy to prevent transfusion-associated Chagas' disease is the identification of T. Cruzi-infected blood donors by serological screening tests, however there is no perfect serological gold standard.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Investigation into voltage and process variation-aware manufacturing test [PDF]
Increasing integration and complexity in IC design provides challenges for manufacturing testing. This thesis studies how process and supply voltage variation influence defect behaviour to determine the impact on manufacturing test cost and quality.
