A Unified Algorithm for BRDF Matching

2019
This paper generalizes existing BRDF fitting algorithms presented in the literature that aims to find a mapping of the parameters of an arbitrary source material model to the parameters of a target material model. A material model in this context is a function that maps a list of parameters, such as roughness or specular color, to a BRDF.

Polarization BRDF

OSA Annual Meeting, 1993
By combining scatterometry with polarimetry, a polarization dependent BRDF is measured with the potential to separate roughness, contamination, and subsurface damage. Two instruments which measure the polarization BRDF will be presented and results discussed.

The halfway vector disk for BRDF modeling

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2006
We present a mathematical framework for enforcing energy conservation in a BRDF by specifying halfway vector distributions in simple two-dimensional domains. Energy-conserving BRDFs can produce plausible rendered images with accurate reflectance behavior,

A microfacet-based BRDF generator

Proceedings of the 27th annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques - SIGGRAPH '00, 2000
A method is presented that takes as an input a 2D microfacet orientation distribution and produces a 4D bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF). This method differs from previous microfacet-based BRDF models in that it uses a simple shadowing term which allows it to handle very general microfacet distributions while maintaining ...

BRDF Acquisition with Basis Illumination

2007 IEEE 11th International Conference on Computer Vision, 2007
Realistic descriptions of surface reflectance have long been a topic of interest in both computer vision and computer graphics research. In this paper, we describe a novel and fast approach for the acquisition of bidirectional reflectance distribution functions (BRDFs). We develop a novel theory for directly measuring BRDFs in a basis representation by

An Anisotropic Phong BRDF Model

Journal of Graphics Tools, 2000
Abstract We present a BRDF model that combines several advantages of the various empirical models currently in use. In particular, it has intuitive parameters, is anisotropic, conserves energy, is reciprocal, has an appropriate non-Lambertian diffuse term, and is well-suited for use in Monte Carlo renderers.

BRDF/BTF measurement device

Proceedings Eighth IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision. ICCV 2001, 2002
Capturing surface appearance is important for a large number of applications. Appearance of real world surfaces is difficult to model as it varies with the direction of illumination as well as the direction from which it is viewed. Consequently, measurements of the BRDF (bidirectional reflectance distribution function) have been important. In addition,
