Characteristics of gas breakdown in hollow-core fibers

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
We succeeded in obtaining gas discharge in 250-, 150-, and 50-mum inner-diameter (i.d.) hollow-core fibers (HCFs) by using longitudinal direct current excitation. Stable glow discharges of at least several minutes were observed for these HCFs. A flash glow was also observed for an HCF with an i.d. of ~20 mum. Breakdown of helium and argon gases in a 26.

The Characteristics of Systems Breakdown

2016
This chapter leverages the conceptual framework for how systems form to explain the many ways systems break down. These ways are organized into major methods, from violent destruction to intentional retirement, and specific breakdown mechanisms within each method.

Breakdown Characteristics of C60 Modified Transformer Oil

2018 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP), 2018
Transformer mineral oil play important roles in the insulating system of the transformer, such as heat dissipation and electrical insulation. C60 is an ideal choice for mineral oil modification due to its good lubricity and oil solubility. In this work, we attempted to obtain C 60 nano-mineral oil with concentrations of 50 mg/L, 100 mg/L, 150 mg/L, 200

Generalized breakdown voltage characteristic of the pseudospark

Applied Physics Letters, 1994
A simple empirical scaling law is determined for the pseudospark breakdown voltage characteristic that includes the effect of the cavity dimension. It is found that the breakdown voltage characteristic has two distinctive regimes: the breakdown voltage is a function of the product of the gas pressure and the anode–cathode distance pd and a function of ...

Low-temperature breakdown characteristics in n-Ge

Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1984
The low-temperature breakdown characteristics of n-Ge are investigated theoretically using various models for the recombination process of the non-equilibrium carriers. The energy distribution of the carriers at the onset of the breakdown is assumed to be Maxwellian and effective electron temperature is used.

Breakdown law and post-breakdown current-voltage characteristics of emission-driven microplasmas

2014 IEEE 41st International Conference on Plasma Sciences (ICOPS) held with 2014 IEEE International Conference on High-Power Particle Beams (BEAMS), 2014
Microplasmas are traditionally defined as plasmas that are confined to gaps that are less than 1 mm and have found applications in nanoparticle synthesis, plasma medicine and flow control. More recently, there has been significant emphasis on microplasmas operating at even smaller gaps that are less than 100 µm.

Thrust Breakdown Characteristics of Conventional Propellers

2007
Abstract : Historically, the Burrill diagram has been used early in the propeller design process to estimate the inception of thrust loss due to cavitation. That data was based on a systematic series of propeller tested in a uniform inflow. This report develops an alternative set of curves based on five modern propeller designs to estimate thrust ...
