Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights From a Large International Sicca Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0–4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0–3) as predictors of DED signs (abnormal ocular ...

General Trimmed Estimation: Robust Approach to Nonlinear and Limited Dependent Variable Models (Replaces DP 2007-1) [PDF]

open access: yes
High breakdown-point regression estimators protect against large errors and data con- tamination. We generalize the concept of trimming used by many of these robust estima- tors, such as the least trimmed squares and maximum trimmed likelihood, and ...

The onset of instability in unsteady boundary-layer separation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The process of unsteady two-dimensional boundary-layer separation at high Reynolds number is considered. Solutions of the unsteady non-interactive boundary-layer equations are known to develop a generic separation singularity in regions where the ...

On the breakdown point of transport-based quantiles

open access: yesBernoulli
Recent work has used optimal transport ideas to generalize the notion of (center-outward) quantiles to dimension $d\geq 2$. We study the robustness properties of these transport-based quantiles by deriving their breakdown point, roughly, the smallest amount of contamination required to make these quantiles take arbitrarily aberrant values.

Longitudinal Changes in Adiposity after a Youth Sport‐Related Knee Injury: Informing Post‐Traumatic Osteoarthritis Prevention

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Youth who experience a sport‐related knee injury have elevated odds of overweight or obesity in 3‐10 years, compounding their risk for post‐traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA). To inform prevention strategies, this study compared patterns of adiposity change between youth with a sport‐related knee injury and uninjured youth in the 2‐year period ...

Comparison between two VSC-HVDC transmission systems technologies : modular and neutral point clamped multilevel converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The paper presents a detail comparison between two voltage source converter high voltage dc transmission systems, the first is based on neutral point-clamped (also known as HVDC-Light) and the second is based on innovative modular multilevel converter ...

Experimental identification of defect-induced destructive breakdown of AlGaN ultraviolet avalanche photodiodes

open access: yesAIP Advances
The issue of destructive breakdown and high dark current in AlGaN ultraviolet avalanche photodiodes has conventionally been attributed to material defects, yet direct evidence supporting this claim has been absent.

Numerical modelling of low-temperature non-equilibrium plasma of pulsing corona and breakdown

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2007
The method of determining an existence region of the non-equilibrium plasma of the pulsating negative corona and breakdown is developed. The low-temperature non-equilibrium pulsing plasma of the point-to-plane negative corona and a transition form to the

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

The multivariate least trimmed squares estimator. [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we introduce the least trimmed squares estimator for multivariate regression. We give three equivalent formulations of the estimator and obtain its breakdown point. A fast algorithm for its computation is proposed.
