Influencing Factors of Breaking Capacity of Double-Break Vacuum Circuit Breakers
Using a series arrangement of two vacuum interrupters (VIs) has been proved to be an effective way of developing higher voltage vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs), which are known as double-break VCBs. The uniform distribution of the transient recovery voltage (TRV) across each VI is very critical for the breaking capacity of double-break VCBs.

Breaking Cournot: The Effects of Capacity-Adjusting Technology
The technological improvements modeled for Cournot competition have primarily focused on production cost reductions and scope effects. We consider a case where the technology improves the ability to affect the production capacity constraints instead.

Spring-loaded Winch Band Brakes as Tools to Improve Safety During Mooring Operations on Ships [PDF]
Some recent accident reports involving large vessels in mooring operations or breaking away from their moorings conclude that brakes of mooring winches do not render before line parts.

The capacity of black holes to transmit quantum information [PDF]
We study the properties of the quantum information transmission channel that emerges from the quantum dynamics of particles interacting with a black hole horizon.

Additivity of the classical capacity of entanglement-breaking quantum channels [PDF]
We show that for the tensor product of an entanglement-breaking quantum channel with an arbitrary quantum channel, both the minimum entropy of an output of the channel and the Holevo–Schumacher–Westmoreland capacity are additive. In addition, for the tensor product of two arbitrary quantum channels, we give a bound involving entanglement of formation ...

Network Information Flow in Small World Networks [PDF]
Recent results from statistical physics show that large classes of complex networks, both man-made and of natural origin, are characterized by high clustering properties yet strikingly short path lengths between pairs of nodes. This class of networks are

Temperature modes of the contactor contacts during the test for the limiting breaking capacity [PDF]
The processes of electric arc quenching of an electromagnetic contactor during testing for ultimate breaking capacity are considered. The conditions for facilitating the successful arc quenching when turning off the limiting currents are shown: by ...

Directed percolation effects emerging from superadditivity of quantum networks
Entanglement indcued non--additivity of classical communication capacity in networks consisting of quantum channels is considered. Communication lattices consisiting of butterfly-type entanglement breaking channels augmented, with some probability, by ...
