The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Three-Nucleon Force Effects in Nucleon Induced Deuteron Breakup: Predictions of Current Models (I) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
An extensive study of three-nucleon force effects in the entire phase space of the nucleon-deuteron breakup process, for energies from above the deuteron breakup threshold up to 200 MeV, has been performed.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Relativistic effects in exclusive neutron-deuteron breakup [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We extended the study of relativistic effects in neutron-deuteron scattering to the exclusive breakup. To this aim we solved the three-nucleon Faddeev equation including such relativistic features as relativistic kinematics and boost effects at incoming ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Numerical Simulation of Droplet Breakup and Coalescence in Liquid-liquid Separation Hydrocyclone

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2017
In order to study the breakup and coalescence of droplets in hydrocyclone and their effects on separation performance, the Euler-Euler multiphase flow model and the RSM turbulence model were used to simulate the separation of oil and water in the cyclone.

Coulomb Breakup Mechanism of Neutron-Halo Nuclei in a Time-Dependent Method

open access: yes, 1996
The mechanism of the Coulomb breakup reactions of the nuclei with neutron-halo structure is investigated in detail. A time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation for the halo neutron is numerically solved by treating the Coulomb field of a target as an ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Effect of Oil Droplet Coalescence and Breakup Behavior on Separation Performance of Hydrocyclone

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2019
To study the effects of coalescence and breakup behavior of discrete phase oil droplet on the internal flow field characteristics and separation performance of oil-water separation hydrocyclone, taking the axial guide cone hydrocyclone as study object ...
