Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Comparison of the diagnostic performance of Quantra artificial intelligence software with an experienced radiologist in the mammographic breast density assessment in women with and without breast implants

open access: yesJournal of the Mexican Federation of Radiology and Imaging
Mammographic sensitivity decreases when mammographic breast density (MBD) is assessed in women with dense breasts and/or breast implants. This study compared the diagnostic performance of Quantra artificial intelligence (AI) software with an experienced ...

Quality of life and aesthetic results after mastectomy and mammary reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica, 2019
Introduction: Due to the increased incidence of breast cancer, the demand for breast reconstruction has been increasing, along with concerns regarding the satisfaction and quality of life of the patients.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Breast Implants and Radiation

open access: yesSeminars in Plastic Surgery, 2019
AbstractOne of the most influential factors in the success of breast reconstruction is whether or not radiation therapy has or will be performed. While traditional teaching is that all breasts treated with radiation therapy must be reconstructed with an autologous component, many reconstructive surgeons perform implant-based breast reconstruction ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Breast implant illness in silicone breast implant patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This dissertation studied health complaints in Silicone Breast Implant (SBI) patients, known under the term Breast Implant Illness (BII). This is a symptom complex of non-specific health complaints such as muscle pain, joint pain, extreme fatigue, sleep disturbances, pyrexia, dry eyes/dry mouth (sicca) and cognitive disturbances.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...
