Nutritional and Health Requirements to Achieve Quality in The Localization of Baby Food Industry [PDF]

open access: yesFood Technology Research Journal
Breastfeeding is the optimal nutrition for infants. Baby food is divided into two categories: breast milk substitutes and complementary foods. Complementary foods are any foods, whether manufactured or prepared at home, suitable to supplement breast milk

The economic value of food labels: A lab experiment on safer infant milk formula [PDF]

open access: yes
Enterobacter sakazakii, a pathogen that can be found in powdered infant milk formula, can cause adverse health effects on infants. Using Vickrey auction, this study examines parents' willingness to pay (WTP) for a quality assurance label on powdered ...

A Functionally Conserved Enhancer is Critical for PGC1A Expression and Thermogenesis in Brown Fat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An evolutionarily conserved enhancer controls PGC1A expression and thermogenic activation in brown adipose tissue. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify two BAT‐specific enhancers, with PGC1A‐En1 functioning as the dominant regulatory element that maintains thermogenic capacity across species.

Legal capacities required for prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Law lies at the centre of successful national strategies for prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases. By law we mean international agreements, national and subnational legislation, regulations and other executive instruments, and decisions of ...

Use of antenatal clinic surveillance to assess the effect of sexual behavior on HIV prevalence in young women in Karonga district, Malawi. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
BACKGROUND: Antenatal clinic (ANC) surveillance is the primary source of HIV prevalence estimates in low-resource settings. In younger women, prevalence approximates incidence.

Reduced Maintenance DNA Methylation Thresholds Enable Sensitive Reporter Assays for UHRF1 and DNMT1 Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The authors engineer colorectal cancer cells with reduced redundancy of UHRF1 and DNMT1, key DNA methylation maintenance factors, lowering the maintenance threshold and sensitizing cells to inhibition. They develop reporter assays driven by endogenous tumor‐suppressor gene promoters with enhanced sensitivity and dynamic range to demethylating drugs ...

Predictors and Consequences of In-hospital Formula Supplementation for Healthy Breastfeeding Newborns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: Although exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first 6 months, the use of breast milk substitutes is widespread around the world.

Circular RNA circNrip1 Interacts with SYNCRIP to Promote Neuropathic Pain by Stabilizing Tlr2 mRNA in Primary Sensory Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Model of circNrip1 (cNrip1) upregulation driving neuropathic pain mechanisms. After peripheral nerve injury, increased FUS triggers the formation and upregulation of cNrip1 in injured DRG neurons. Upregulated cNrip1 recruits SYNCRIP to the 3′‐UTR of Tlr2 mRNA by binding to both, thereby promoting SYNCRIP‐triggered Tlr2 mRNA stability and increasing ...

Breastfeeding in China: a review

open access: yesInternational Breastfeeding Journal, 2009
This review aims to describe changes in breastfeeding and summarise the breastfeeding rates, duration and reasons of discontinuing 'any breastfeeding' or 'exclusive breastfeeding' in P.R. China. Breastfeeding rates in China fell during the 1970s when the

Humanized and Charge‐Optimized CSPG4‐Specific CAR‐T Cells show Enhanced Efficacy against Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CSPG4 is identified as a high‐value, stemness‐associated target in HPV‐negative HNSCC. By implementing rational biophysical engineering, a humanized and charge‐optimized CAR is developed to overcome tonic signaling‐induced exhaustion. This strategy induces a profound transcriptomic shift toward a rejuvenated, stem‐like memory state, significantly ...
