Mitochondrial Calcium Uniporter Drives Chemoresistance in Pancreatic Cancer via Glutathione‐Mediated Stemness Maintenance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PDAC has a poor prognosis due to chemoresistance. We revealed that MCU upregulation is associated with chemoresistance and stemness in PDAC. MCU‐mediated Ca2+ influx induced ER stress, activating the PERK‐ATF4/NRF2 axis to enhance PSAT1/SLC711 expression and glutathione synthesis, reducing ROS and maintaining stemness.

Prepectoral implant-based breast reconstruction: a joint consensus guide from UK, European and USA breast and plastic reconstructive surgeons

open access: yesecancermedicalscience, 2019
Advances in implantable biologic and synthetic products over the last decade have enabled surgeons to replace traditional submuscular implant-based breast reconstruction techniques with a prepectoral or muscle-sparing technique.

Mitochondrial CISD1 Modulates Microglial Metabolic Reprogramming to Drive Stress Susceptibility in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CDGSH iron sulfur domain 1 (CISD1) mitigates oxidative stress by promoting NADH oxidation and Coenzyme Q (CoQ) reduction. Under chronic stress, elevated CISD1 expression in microglia enhances NAD⁺ production, thereby increasing GAPDH activity and glycolytic flux, while reducing ATP synthesis by inhibiting proton transfer from mitochondrial complexes I ...

DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction in Patients with Breast Ptosis: 2-Stage Reconstruction Using 3-Dimensional Surface Imaging and a Printed Mold

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2017
Background:. Autologous breast reconstruction can be performed for breasts with ptosis to a certain extent, but if patients desire to correct ptosis, mastopexy of the contralateral breast is indicated.

Endometrial Assembloid Model Reveals Endometrial Gland Development Regulation by Estradiol‐Driven WNT7B Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a 3D endometrial assembloid model to study how uterine glands form and develop. They discovered key interactions between different cell types and identified WNT7B as a regulator controlled by estradiol‐mediated TGFβ1‐VDR interaction.

Patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) following mastectomy with breast reconstruction or without reconstruction: a systematic review.

open access: yesGland surgery, 2019
The cornerstone of reconstructive surgery following mastectomy is to restore cosmesis and improve physical and psychological health. Consequently, it has become essential for instruments that measure surgical outcomes to include the direct perspective of

Enzymatic Remodelling of Tumour Microenvironment Enhances Anti‐CEACAM5 CAR T‐Cell Efficacy Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows anti‐CEACAM5 CAR T‐cells are ineffective against colorectal cancer (CRC) because of CEACAM5 sequestration at intercellular junctions and the thick tumour cell glycocalyx. Enzymatic treatments of CRC cell monolayer/tissue section with trypsin or hyaluronidase restore CEACAM5 availability, enhance CAR T‐cell activation, increase ...
