Discordance Between Patient and Physician Global Assessments in Early Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aims to identify factors associated with patient global assessment (PtGA) and physician global assessment (PhGA) and discordance between them in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Methods Data from adults with early SSc (<5 years) from the Collaborative National Quality and Efficacy Registry were included.

Numerical investigation of stability of breather-type solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2014
In this article we conduct a broad numerical investigation of stability of breather-type solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation, a widely used model of rogue wave generation and dynamics in deep water. NLS breathers rising over an unstable

Discrete Breathers with Dissipation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The interplay between discreteness and nonlinearity leads to the emergence of a new class of nonlinear excitations, viz. discrete breathers. These time-periodic and spatially localized excitations correspond to generic exact solutions of the underlying nonlinear lattice models.

Perceived Impacts and Predictors of Cannabis Products Used by Patients with Rheumatologic Conditions in Alberta, Canada: A Multivariable Analysis of Cross‐Sectional Survey Data

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to characterize cannabis product choices (cannabinoid content and formulation) among patients with rheumatologic conditions and their associations with patient factors, patient‐reported perceived side effects, and positive impacts.

Nontrivial breathers for Ricci flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Perelman has proved that there cannot exist a nontrivial breather for Ricci flow on a closed manifold. Here we construct nontrivial expanding breathers for Ricci flow in all dimensions when the underlying manifold is allowed to be ...

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Numerical modeling of stationary pseudospin waves on a graphene monoatomic films

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Models and Applied Computational Science, 2019
For the first time, the theoretical model of the spin-electron structure of a singlelayer graphene film was proposed by Wallace. The literature also describes ferromagnetism generated by none of the three common causes: impurities, defects, boundaries ...

Management of breather interactions

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
We propose theoretically and confirm experimentally a general approach to manage multiple nonlinear interactions of coherent solitary wave structures on an unstable background–-breathers.

Surface breathers in discrete magnetic metamaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We analyze the properties of discrete breathers excited near the edge of a one-dimensional metamaterial created by a truncated array of nonlinear split-ring resonators.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
