Impact of Different Synchrotron Flattop Operation Modes on 4D Dosimetric Uncertainties for Scanned Carbon-Ion Beam Delivery

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
PurposeThe characteristic of pulsed beam delivery for synchrotron-based carbon-ion radiotherapy has led to the emergence of many scanning scenarios in order to improve the treatment efficiency and accuracy of moving target volume.

Diaphragmatic motion recorded by M-mode ultrasonography: limits of normality

open access: yesERJ Open Research, 2021
Chest ultrasonography has proven to be useful in the diagnosis of diaphragm dysfunction. The aim of the present study was to determine the normal values of the motion of both hemidiaphragms recorded by M-mode ultrasonography.

Bending and breathing modes of the Galactic disc [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2014
We explore the hypothesis that a passing satellite or dark matter subhalo has excited coherent oscillations of the Milky Way's stellar disk in the direction perpendicular to the Galactic midplane. This work is motivated by recent observations of spatially dependent bulk vertical motions within ~ kpc of the Sun.

Breathing mode assessment with thermography: a pilot study. [PDF]

open access: yesCodas
ABSTRACT Purpose To present a method for analyzing breathing modes with infrared thermography. Methods This exploratory cross-sectional study used 38 thermal images of inspiration and expiration with nasal breathing and simulated mouth breathing in four nasal breathers without respiratory complaints.

A scan of universal breathing‐mode reductions [PDF]

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, 2011
AbstractThe near horizon limits of M2 and D3 branes probing special holonomy cones give rise to supersymmetric AdS4 × M7 and AdS5 × M5 solutions of D = 11 and type IIB supergravity, respectively, where M7 and M5 are special types of Einstein spaces.

Corner modes of the breathing kagome lattice: Origin and robustness [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2022
We study the non-trivial phase of the two-dimensional breathing kagome lattice, displaying both edge and corner modes. The corner localized modes of a two-dimensional flake were initially identified as a signature of a higher-order topological phase but later shown to be trivial for perturbations that were thought to protect them.

Frequency beating and damping of breathing oscillations of a harmonically trapped one-dimensional quasicondensate

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Physique, 2023
We study the breathing (monopole) oscillations and their damping in a harmonically trapped one-dimensional (1D) Bose gas in the quasicondensate regime using a finite-temperature classical field approach.

Polyimide-Based High-Performance Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator Humidity Sensor and Its Application in Real-Time Human Respiration Monitoring

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Respiration monitoring is vital for human health assessment. Humidity sensing is a promising way to establish a relationship between human respiration and electrical signal.
