Breeding for agroforestry: is it only breeding for shade?
As most of the crop varieties used by farmers were selected in full sun conditions, crop breeding programs looking at agroforestry-adapted cultivars are often reduced as programs for shadetolerant cultivars. Implementing a breeding program for the understorey crops requires a large surface of agroforestry (AF) design.
