Ochratoxicosis in White Leghorn breeder hens: Production and breeding performance [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2012
This study was designed to evaluate the effect of Ochratoxin A (OTA) upon production and breeding parameters in White Leghorn (WL) breeder hens. For this purpose, 84 WL breeder hens were divided into seven groups (A-G).

Quantifying Nesting Behavior Metrics of Broiler Breeder Hens with Computationally Efficient Image Processing Algorithms and Big Data Analytics [PDF]

open access: yesAgriEngineering
Nesting behaviors are important to understand facility design, resource allowance, animal welfare, and the health of broiler breeder hens. How to automatically extract informative nesting behavior metrics of broiler breeder hens remains a question.

Brewer's Grain from Cameroon Brewery in Breeder Chicken Rations : Effect on Productive and Reproductive Performance [PDF]

open access: yesTropicultura, 2001
In order to evaluate the effect of brewer's dried grain (BDG) on the productive and reproductive traits in breeder chickens, 120 laying hens and 12 cocks of ISA commercial breed were subjected to dietary treatments containing 0, 10, 20, and 30 % levels ...

Gut capacity of broiler breeder hens

open access: yesBritish Poultry Science, 2021
1. Broiler breeders are subjected to qualitative or quantitative feed restrictions to prevent obesity, which causes major health and welfare problems. Diluting their feed by adding inert or low nutrient, bulky materials can reduce obesity, but the capacity of the gut needs to be determined to apply this strategy successfully.

Manganese requirements of broiler breeder hens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2020
The present research was conducted to assess Mn requirements of broiler breeder hens. One hundred and twenty Cobb 500 hens, 22 wk of age, were individually allocated in cages. After fed a Mn-deficient diet (22.2 ppm), hens were randomly placed in treatments having 6 increments of 30-ppm Mn. All trace minerals were from laboratory grade sources being Mn

Multiphasic poultry growth models: method and application

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2020
Growth and development are complex phenomena. To date, most growth modeling research has focused on a single growth phase, which is sufficient and useful for describing ad libitum fed animals processed at a prepubertal age, such as broilers or turkeys ...

Chloride Requirement of the Turkey Breeder Hen

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1983
Two experiments were conducted to determine the chloride requirement of Nicholas Large White Turkey hens fed a corn soybean meal diet. No supplemental chloride over the .03% in the basal diet and 20 ppm in the water was required for maximum egg production, fertility, or hatchability.

A study of association between genetic markers in candidate genes and reproductive traits in one generation of a commercial broiler breeder hen population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Markers of alleles for three physiological candidate genes for reproductive traits, growth hormone (GHR), gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor (GNRHR) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) were assessed for the association with the total egg production, number of ...

Sodium Requirement for Broiler Breeder Hens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1995
Two experiments were conducted with Arbor Acres hens to determine their Na requirement. Sodium chloride was added to a corn-soybean meal diet to furnish daily intakes of 35, 65, 95, 125, and 150 mg per hen in Experiment 1. The 150 mg level was replaced with 180 mg in Experiment 2. The hens were maintained in floor pens with wood shavings used as litter.
