A theoretical and practical analysis of the optimum breeding system for perennial ryegrass

open access: yes, 2011
peer-reviewedThe goal of plant breeding is to effectively and efficiently select for the best phenotypes leading to the development of improved cultivars. The objectives for this review are to describe and critically evaluate breeding methods appropriate

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

COMBINING ABILITY OF SELECTED DESSERT STRAWBERRY CULTIVARS WITH DIFFERENT FRUIT RIPENING PERIODS

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2014
The subjects of the study were the strawberry hybrids of the F1 generation, derived from the crossing made between eight cultivars: ‘Darselect’, ‘Selvik’, ‘Elianny’, ‘Susy’, ‘Salsa’, ‘Albion’, ‘Charlotte’ and ‘Filon’ in an incomplete diallel mating ...

Ryegrass breeding - balancing trait priorities

open access: yes, 2011
peer-reviewedIn all ryegrass breeding programmes it is necessary to select a range of traits within different cultivar types, varying in ploidy and flowering time.

Quinoa Breeding and Genomics

open access: yes, 2018
The production and consumption of quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) have grown rapidly in recent years, spreading far beyond its traditional growing region of the Andes Mountains in South America. The increase in consumption is due primarily to its high

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

ADAPTIVE CAPACITY AND BREEDING VALUE OF VEGETABLE VARIETIES OF PEAS COLLECTION

open access: yesОвощи России, 2015
Adaptive properties and selection value of vegetable pea collection based on «seed weight per plant» have been studied. The genotypes with high total and specific adaptive capacity, relative stability, and breeding value for multiple purposes have been ...

Development of an organizational culture of continuous improvement process across CGIAR breeding programs to support operational excellence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
To meet funders/end-users needs, CGIAR breeding programs are modernizing their breeding operations. This doesn't mean a change here/there, but a culture of continuous improvement. By adopting LEAN methodologies (LM) IRRI has been engaging the operational
