Evaluation of the breeding value of sires in the breeding reproducer of the Kholmogory breed of cattle

Legal regulation in veterinary medicine, 2023
Estimates of the breeding value of producers and breeding stock of cattle use various information and analytical models and statistical methods, including the determination of the breeding value of animals using the BLUP methodology and the BLUP AM methodology, for the subsequent transition to predictive genomic SNP selection.

THE ADAPTIVE VALUE OF CATTLE IN THE BREEDING OF AYRSHIRE BREED

Genetika i razvedenie zhivotnyh, 2019
In the stables and pasture system, the success of the formation and development of herds on new farms is determined by the adaptive response and viability of cattle obtained in different countries and breeding systems, which was the purpose of the work. The object of the research was a herd of Ayrshire cattle, originally formed by heifers from 15 farms

On the computation of breeding values

1990
A model and estimation procedure is presented to estimate breeding values. Algorithms for Sparse QR-factorization on the CRAY X/MP are derived and implemented. Finally an adapted ordering is found, which has some advantages compared with minimum degree ordering.

The effect of culling on breeding values

2020
Culling is inevitable in breeding trials. It removes individuals with undesirable traits but also introduces bias in breeding value estimation since we cannot ensure the population normality assumption. Here a stochastic simulation was used to study the impact of culling on the precision of breeding value estimation.

A Framework for Prediction of Breeding Value

1990
Inferences in a univariate normal linear model with two components of variance are discussed from a Bayesian perspective. When variances are known, three scenarios are considered: unknown “nuisance” parameters (β) and breeding values (u), unknown β and known u, and unknown u and known β.
