RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Implementation of SCC breeding values in Italian Jersey breed
In the framework of the LATTeco project, ANAFIJ (Associazione Nazionale Allevatori della Razza Frisona e Jersey Italiana) has been working on improving animal welfare, biodiversity and sustainability. Focusing on animal welfare, ANAFIJ has implemented a genetic evaluation for somatic cell count (SCC) in the Italian Jersey population.

KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Trends in Breeding Value and Production
Over 3.6 million first lactation records by cows on official test were studied. About 15.5 yr of data for six dairy breeds were represented. Sire breeding value was twice the sire's Modified Contemporary Deviation from the USDA Sire Summary. Sire breeding values for milk and fat of cows calving in the later years increased for all breeds but Ayrshires,

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Turning the heat up on independent culling in crop breeding
Most grain crops are sensitive to heat stress during anthesis which causes substantial reductions in grain yield, and heat stress tolerance (HST) is therefore an important trait for selection in crop breeding programmes during the 21st century.

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.
