On the computation of breeding values
1990A model and estimation procedure is presented to estimate breeding values. Algorithms for Sparse QR-factorization on the CRAY X/MP are derived and implemented. Finally an adapted ordering is found, which has some advantages compared with minimum degree ordering.

The effect of culling on breeding values
2020Culling is inevitable in breeding trials. It removes individuals with undesirable traits but also introduces bias in breeding value estimation since we cannot ensure the population normality assumption. Here a stochastic simulation was used to study the impact of culling on the precision of breeding value estimation.
