Adaptability of winter bread wheat by homeostaticity and breeding value
Genetičnì resursi roslin (Plant Genetic Resources), 2021Aim. To determine the adaptability of modern winter bread wheat varieties by homeostaticity and breeding value of their yields in the northeastern forest-steppe of Ukraine. Results and Discussion.

A Framework for Prediction of Breeding Value
1990Inferences in a univariate normal linear model with two components of variance are discussed from a Bayesian perspective. When variances are known, three scenarios are considered: unknown “nuisance” parameters (β) and breeding values (u), unknown β and known u, and unknown u and known β.

Breed wealth: Origins, encounter value and the international love of a breed
Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers, 2020This paper offers a geographical framework for considering animal breeds as objects of knowledge and living entities, and uses it to explore how ideas of breed origin constitute breeds and affect interspecies relations, human relations and the making of value.

The effect of culling on breeding values
2020Culling is inevitable in breeding trials. It removes individuals with undesirable traits but also introduces bias in breeding value estimation since we cannot ensure the population normality assumption. Here a stochastic simulation was used to study the impact of culling on the precision of breeding value estimation.

On the computation of breeding values
1990A model and estimation procedure is presented to estimate breeding values. Algorithms for Sparse QR-factorization on the CRAY X/MP are derived and implemented. Finally an adapted ordering is found, which has some advantages compared with minimum degree ordering.

Bayesian methods for genomic breeding value estimation
Hereditas (Beijing), 2014Estimation of genomic breeding values is the key step in genomic selection. The successful application of genomic selection depends on the accuracy of genomic estimated breeding values, which is mostly determined by the estimation method. Bayes-type and BLUP-type methods are the two main methods which have been widely studied and used.

THE ADAPTIVE VALUE OF CATTLE IN THE BREEDING OF AYRSHIRE BREED
Genetika i razvedenie zhivotnyh, 2019In the stables and pasture system, the success of the formation and development of herds on new farms is determined by the adaptive response and viability of cattle obtained in different countries and breeding systems, which was the purpose of the work. The object of the research was a herd of Ayrshire cattle, originally formed by heifers from 15 farms

Estimated breeding values for beef cattle
In Practice, 2004THE estimated breeding value (EBV) of an animal is a calculation of its genetic worth based on performance records compiled by pedigree breeders, both for the animal itself and its relatives in other herds. For a beef farmer seeking to purchase a new sire, EBVs provide a means of assessing how the bull compares with the current breed average.

The variability and breeding value of Armenian wheats
Euphytica, 1968Eight Triticum species are found in Armenia and due to their great diversity they can be divided into a number of subspecies and botanical varieties. This also holds true for agricultural properties such as yield, growth habit, winter hardiness, straw strength and resistance to fungal diseases.
