Economic values in broiler breeding

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1998
The objectives of this study were to derive economic values in broiler breeding and to determine their relationship with production circumstances. Economic values were derived using a deterministic economic model based on profit equations with a fixed amount of broiler meat output of the production system.

Domestic estimated breeding values and genomic enhanced breeding values of bulls in comparison with their foreign genomic enhanced breeding values

open access: yesAnimal, 2015
Estimated breeding values (EBVs) and genomic enhanced breeding values (GEBVs) for milk production of young genotyped Holstein bulls were predicted using a conventional BLUP - Animal Model, a method fitting regression coefficients for loci (RRBLUP), a method utilizing the realized genomic relationship matrix (GBLUP), by a single-step procedure (ssGBLUP)

Bio-physicochemical Markers of the Aedes Aegypti Breeding Water in Endemic and Non-endemic Area [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The survival of Aedes aegypti larvae is inseparable from the adequacy of food, including organic substances available in the breeding water. It is very dependent on the level of water markers such as temperature, salinity, Dissolved Oxygen, and pH.

Norwegian dairy farmer's preferences for breeding goal traits and associations with herd and farm characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The aims of this study were to investigate variation and clustering in breeding goal trait preferences among Norwegian dairy farmers and to identify factors with a systematic influence on their preferences. An internet-based questionnaire was sent out to

Predicting breeding value of body weight at 6-month age using Artificial Neural Networks in Kermani sheep breed

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2019
The present study aimed to apply artificial neural networks to predict the breeding values of body weight in 6-month age of Kermani sheep. For this purpose, records of 867 lambs including lamb sex, dam age, birth weight, weaning weight, age at 3-month (3

Persistency of lactation using random regression models and different fixed regression modeling approaches

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2012
Milk yield test-day records on the first three lactations of 25,500 Holstein cows were used to estimate genetic parameters and predict breeding values for nine measures of persistency and 305-d milk yield in a random regression animal model using two ...

Evaluation of safflower varieties for productivity and quality in the arid conditions of the Northern Caspian region

open access: yesАграрная наука Евро-Северо-Востока, 2023
In a dry continental climate, safflower has an undeniable advantage over grains and oilseeds due to its morphological structure. The main advantage of this crop is that it is capable of extracting water from deep layers of soil with its developed root ...

Genomic Selection for Growth Traits in Pacific Oyster (Crassostrea gigas): Potential of Low-Density Marker Panels for Breeding Value Prediction

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2018
Pacific oysters are a key aquaculture species globally, and genetic improvement via selective breeding is a major target. Genomic selection has the potential to expedite genetic gain for key target traits of a breeding program, but has not yet been ...
