Influence of Concave Versus Convex Emergence Profiles on Midfacial Mucosal Stability—A Systematic Review With Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To systematically evaluate the influence of concave versus convex emergence profiles on midfacial mucosal stability in partially edentulous patients restored with implant‐supported single restorations. Materials and Methods A systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted and registered in ...

Mechanically Stabilized Earth Wall Abutments for Bridge Support

open access: yes, 2007
The research is an investigation on the possible use of MSE bridge abutments as direct support of bridges on Indiana highways. First, analysis was performed following conventional design methods, in order to assess the performance of MSE bridge abutments

Anatomy of spinal CSF loss in the American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 575-584, April 2025.
India ink introduced into the cranial cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) compartment of Alligator diffuses along the spinal cord and exits the spinal compartment using perineural flow, resulting in a prominent “ink cuff” forming at the base of the spinal nerve. In Alligator, the region of the ink cuff is drained by a small lymphatic vessel.

Cracking of the End Diaphragm of a Post-tensioned Beam Bridge

open access: yesNordic Concrete Research, 2019
In concrete beam bridges, the end diaphragm at the end of the bridge is a common structural component that connects the main beams and transfers the beam loads to the bridge bearings.

Investigating the effect of curved shape of bridge abutment provided with collar on local scour, experimentally and numerically

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2015
Scour around bridge supports such as abutments can result in structural collapse and loss of life and property, so there is a need to control and minimize the local scour depth.

Long‐Term Survival Rates of Dental Implants in Patients With Disabilities: A Retrospective Clinical Study With up to 10 Years Follow‐Up

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Dental implants in patients with disabilities show high 10‐year survival (98.3%) when supported by principled screening and structured maintenance. This study reveals that while biological failure is rare post‐loading, frequent mechanical complications—predominantly decementation—remain a significant clinical challenge requiring vigilant long‐term ...

Discrete Element Numerical Simulation of the Effect of River Ice Porosity on Impact Force at Bridge Abutments

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In spring, the river ice melts to a certain extent and cracks to form drift ice and impact force on the bridge abutments; the river ice, due to the impact of ablation, has an internal formation of different porosities, and the level of porosity affects ...

Scour and scour protection at bridge abutments

open access: yes, 2005
Bridge failures are mainly caused by scouring the bed material around bridge foundations during flood. In this study, scour phenomenon around bridge abutments is experimentally studied.

Comparison of stress distribution around splinted and nonsplinted implants with different crown height space in posterior mandible: A finite element analysis study

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The purpose of this finite element analysis (FEA) study was to analyze the stress distribution on prosthetic components of splinted and nonsplinted prostheses, bone, and implants with different crown height space (CHS). Materials and Methods Mandibular posterior segment was modeled with no resorption at the second premolar site and ...

Modelling granular soil to predict pressures on integral bridge abutments

open access: yes
Presented here is a granular soil model created to investigate the soil pressureswhich develop behind integral bridge abutments. The problem is introduced along with a briefsummary of the fundamental behaviour, the model produced, and the initial ...
