Observation of Multi-Phonon Emission in Monolayer WS2 on Various Substrates

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have unique absorption and emission properties that stem from their large excitonic binding energies, reduced-dielectric screening, and strong spin–orbit coupling.

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

A randomized, controlled, split-face, double-blind comparison of a multimodality pigment-correcting serum containing lotus sprout extract versus hydroquinone for moderate to severe facial hyperpigmentation, including melasma, in a diverse populationCapsule Summary

open access: yesJAAD International
Background: Hyperpigmentation results in uneven skin tone, with darker skin types disproportionately affected. Objective: Assess efficacy and safety of a novel, hydroquinone (HQ)-free, multimodal pigment-correcting serum (Advanced Brightening Treatment ...

Evidence for Clear‐Sky Dimming and Brightening in Central Europe

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2021
For the explanation of the observed decadal variations in surface solar radiation (known as dimming and brightening), the relative importance of clouds and the cloud‐free atmosphere (particularly aerosols) is currently disputed. Here, we investigate this

Multi‐Biomimetic Structural Colors Inspired by Pearls and Bird Feathers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐biomimetic strategy mimicking pearls and bird feathers is proposed to construct full‐gamut structural colors. By integrating a non‐strictly periodic inorganic multilayer architecture with tunable light absorbers, this facile approach circumvents the complex fabrication of traditional 1D photonic crystals, offering immense potential for cosmetics,

Bright‐Dark Exciton Splitting in Lead Iodide Perovskite Crystals Accessed via Quantum Beats in Photon Echoes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Understanding exciton fine structure is crucial for optoelectronic and quantum photonic applications of lead halide perovskites. It is demonstrated that polarization‐sensitive photon‐echo spectroscopy in a magnetic field resolves exciton fine‐structure splittings hidden by inhomogeneous broadening, enabling direct determination of the bright‐dark ...

Nanoscale Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry for Quantifying Membrane Fouling: Fouling Layer Structure and Chemical Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry (Nano SIMS) is established as a powerful analytical tool to visualize and quantify the membrane fouling layers. ABSTRACT Membrane technology has garnered considerable attention for applications in wastewater treatment and resource recovery. Nevertheless, membrane fouling remains a major barrier, yet the lack of

How extremes in surface incident solar radiation shape its long-term trends in China and Europe

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Although extremes of surface incident solar radiation ( R _s ) are critical for climate and energy assessments, their long-term variations and contributions to R _s trends remain poorly understood.

Evaluating the Efficacy of Sunscreen Formulas in Reducing UV Filter Permeation Into the Stratum Corneum via In Vivo Confocal Raman Spectroscopy: Insights and Applications for Practical Suncare Product Design. [PDF]

open access: yesPhotodermatol Photoimmunol Photomed
ABSTRACT Aims The transdermal permeation of UV filters has long been a concern among consumers and researchers. Among them, the permeation of small‐molecule UV filters such as homosalate (HMS) (molecular weight < 500 Da) and the regulatory effects of formulation components on its permeation have not been fully investigated.

Reversible, Chemically Gated FRET via Ligand‐Activated Acceptors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fluorogen binding turns the compact FAST tag into a tunable FRET acceptor, with ligand chemistry programming spectral overlap and excited‐state lifetimes. Fluorescence‐lifetime imaging reads out energy transfer through the shortened donor lifetime, while simply adding or washing out the dye switches FRET on and off, reversibly mapping the supramodular ...
