The luminosities of the brightest cluster galaxies and brightest satellites in SDSS groups
We show that the distribution of luminosities of Brightest Cluster Galaxies in an SDSS-based group catalog suggests that BCG luminosities are just the statistical extremes of the group galaxy luminosity function.

Atmospheric Pressure and Molecular Cloud Formation in Early-type Galaxies
A strong correlation between atmospheric pressure and molecular gas mass is found in central cluster galaxies and early-type galaxies. This trend and a similar trend with atmospheric gas density would naturally arise if the molecular clouds condensed ...

A Photometric Survey of Globular Cluster Systems in Brightest Cluster Galaxies
Hubble Space Telescope imaging for 26 giant early-type galaxies, all drawn from the MAST archive, is used to carry out photometry of their surrounding globular cluster (GC) systems. Most of these targets are Brightest Cluster Galaxies and their distances

The XMM Cluster Survey: The Stellar Mass Assembly of Fossil Galaxies [PDF]
This paper presents both the result of a search for fossil systems (FSs) within the XMM Cluster Survey and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the results of a study of the stellar mass assembly and stellar populations of their fossil galaxies. In total, 17

Galaxy Orientations in the Coma Cluster [PDF]
We have examined the orientations of early-type galaxies in the Coma cluster to see whether the well-established tendency for brightest cluster galaxies to share the same major axis orientation as their host cluster also extends to the rest of the galaxy

Order statistics of the early-type galaxy luminosity function [PDF]
We apply order statistics (OS) to the bright end ($M_r < -22$) of the luminosity distribution of early-type galaxies spectroscopically identified in the SDSS DR7 catalog.

LINEAR SUBSTRUCTURES IN GALAXY CLUSTERS
We propose detailed scheme that is describing the morphology of linear substructures in galaxy clusters. Our base morphological scheme di- vides galaxy clusters using numerical criteria according the parameters: concentration to the cluster center, the ...

CLASH-VLT: The Inner Slope of the MACS J1206.2-0847 Dark Matter Density Profile
The inner slope ( γ _DM ) of the dark matter (DM) density profile of cosmological halos carries information about the properties of DM and/or baryonic processes affecting the halo gravitational potential.

The Galaxy Population of Cluster RXJ0848+4453 at z=1.27 [PDF]
We present a study of the galaxy population in the cluster RXJ0848+4453 at z=1.27, using deep HST NICMOS and WFPC2 images. We morphologically classify all galaxies to K_s=20.6 that are covered by the HST imaging, and determine photometric redshifts using

The luminosity function of cluster galaxies. II. Data reduction procedures applied to the cluster Abell 496 [PDF]
We initiated a large project aimed to estimate the Luminosity Function of galaxies in clusters and to evaluate its relation to cluster morphology. With this paper we deem necessary to outline the general procedures of the data reduction and details of ...
