The Emergence of a Brightest Cluster Galaxy in a Protocluster Core at z = 2.24
We report the detection of a pair of massive quiescent galaxies likely in the process of merging at the center of the spectroscopically confirmed, extremely massive protocluster BOSS1244 at z = 2.24 ± 0.02.

Deep Space Network Radio Science and Ground‐Based Planetary Radar in the Next Decade
Abstract The Deep Space Network (DSN) has been a core operational element of NASA's crewed and robotic exploration of the Solar System since the early 1960s. The primary role of the DSN has been to acquire telemetry and navigation data, but over the years, its radiometric and radar capabilities have expanded to form a system for obtaining unique ...

Simulating the formation of a proto-cluster at z~2
We present results from two high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations of proto-cluster regions at z~2.1. The simulations have been compared to observational results for the socalled Spiderweb galaxy system, the core of a putative proto-cluster region at

Witnessing the Hierarchical Assembly of the Brightest Cluster Galaxy in a Cluster at z = 1.26 [PDF]
We have obtained a new high-resolution K′-band image of the central region of the rich X-ray cluster RX J0848.9+4452 at z = 1.26. We found that the brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) in the cluster is clearly separated into two distinct objects.

A triple nucleus in the brightest cluster galaxy in Abell 193 [PDF]
We present a ground-based, near-infrared, K-band image and a Hubble Space Telescope (HST) WFPC2 image of the brightest cluster galaxy in Abell 193 (IC 1695). This object was selected as the central cluster galaxy using X-ray information.

Mimicking Symmetry‐Breaking Einstein Ring by Optical Lens
This article uses an optical lens to emulate the gravitational lensing effect and observe the Einstein ring (ER) patterns. The symmetry‐breaking ER, i.e., Einstein cross, is observed utilizing a rotation‐symmetry‐breaking hemi‐ellipsoid lens. Deformed Einstein cross patterns induced by noncollinearly alignment of the light source–lens–observer are ...

Spectral Energy Distribution Fitting of Globular Clusters in NGC 4874: Masses and Metallicities
In most nearby galaxies, photometry of the integrated light of their globular clusters (GCs) has been obtained in only two filters, yielding just a single color index.

Strong Lensing Analysis of the Powerful Lensing Cluster MACS J2135.2-0102 ($z$=0.33) [PDF]
We present a light-traces-mass (LTM) strong-lensing model of the massive lensing cluster MACS J2135.2-0102 ($z$=0.33; hereafter MACS2135), known in part for hosting the Cosmic Eye galaxy lens.

Spectroscopic and X-ray Modeling of the Strong Lensing Galaxy Cluster MACS J0138.0-2155
We model the total mass and galactic substructure in the strong lensing galaxy cluster MACS J0138.0-2155 using a combination of Chandra X-ray data, Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) spectroscopy, and Hubble Space Telescope imaging.

Agn In Brightest Cluster Galaxies
We present a systematic investigation of the nuclear activity in Brighest Cluster Galaxies through cosmic epochs. By combining X-ray, Radio, optical and IR data, we constrain the origin of the feeding gas and the accretion regime, as well as the feedback processes affecting the surrounding Intra Cluster Medium and star formation events in the BCGs ...
