A power law study of the edge influence on the perceived filling-in brightness magnitude [PDF]
Background Edge plays a special role in spatial perception and as well as in determining the brightness of a surface within borders. The aim of our study was to measure threshold brightness in different levels of edges thickness.

Magnitude to luminance conversions and visual brightness of the night sky [PDF]
ABSTRACT The visual brightness of the night sky is not a single-valued function of its brightness in other photometric bands, because the transformations between photometric systems depend on the spectral power distribution of the skyglow.

The role of numerical magnitude and order in the illusory perception of size and brightness
Processing magnitudes constitutes a common experience across a multiplicity of dimensions, for example when one has to compare sizes, duration, numbers, sound height or loudness.

The surface brightness and colour-magnitude relations for Fornax cluster galaxies [PDF]
We present BVI photometry of 190 galaxies in the central region of the Fornax Cluster observed with the Michigan Curtis Schmidt Telescope. The cluster members exhibit a strong surface brightness-magnitude relation in our data: both giant and dwarf ellipticals decrease in surface brightness as luminosity decreases.

Super-Resolution Parameter Estimation Using Machine Learning-Assisted Spatial Mode Demultiplexing [PDF]
We present the use of a light-weight machine learning (ML) model to estimate the separation and relative brightness of two incoherent light sources below the diffraction limit.

Spatial Model of Sky Brightness Magnitude in KUSZA Observatory, UniSZA
Light pollution is the by-product of anthropogenic activities result from the increases in advanced economic and urbanization. Light pollution limits the ability to view the night sky by astronomers, on biodiversity, and ecosystems. This technology nowadays has led us to increase the convenient method to observe the brightness of night sky to determine

Brightness induction magnitude declines with increasing distance from the inducing field edge
Brightness induction refers to a class of visual illusions where the perceived intensity of a region of space is influenced by the luminance of surrounding regions. These illusions are significant because they provide insight into the neural organization and processing strategies employed by the visual system. The nature of these processing strategies,

Spatial Model of Sky Brightness Magnitude in Langkawi Island, Malaysia
Sky brightness is an essential topic in the field of astronomy, especially for optical astronomical observations that need very clear and dark sky conditions. This study presents the spatial model of sky brightness magnitude in Langkawi Island, Malaysia.

Bright electron bunches from a plasma-wakefield accelerator with a steep density down-ramp [PDF]
High-brightness electron bunches drive fundamental research in particle physics and photon science. Key to achieving a high brightness is to have a low transverse emittance, which ensures that the bunch can be tightly focussed.
