The 8 Micron Phase Variation of the Hot Saturn HD 149026b [PDF]
We monitor the star HD 149026 and its Saturn-mass planet at 8.0 micron over slightly more than half an orbit using the Infrared Array Camera (IRAC) on the Spitzer Space Telescope. We find an increase of 0.0227% +/- 0.0066% (3.4 sigma significance) in the

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Methods for correcting microwave scattering and emission measurements for atmospheric effects [PDF]
The author has identified the following significant results. Algorithms were developed to permit correction of scattering coefficient and brightness temperature for the Skylab S193 Radscat for the effects of cloud attenuation.

Far-Infrared Brightness Temperatures of the Planets
An airborne telescope operating in an altitude range from 45,000 to 50,000 feet together with a low-temperature germanium bolometer and six cooled filters were used in an investigation of the temperatures of the planets. The measurements conducted provide a basis for absolute calibration in the far infrared, confirm the high effective temperature and ...

Inflammatory Response‐Inspired Thermochromic Shield for Pneumatic Structures
A thermochromic shield for pneumatic structures is developed, using anhydrous sodium acetate powder and thermochromic pigment‐included solution. In this shield composed of three layers, the exothermic and thermochromic reactions, followed by the mixture of both components, occur promptly with an incident of penetrating damage as a sign of initial ...

Investigating Temporal and Spatial Variation of Jupiter’s Atmosphere with Radio Observations
We study the spatial and temporal variability in Jupiter's atmosphere by comparing longitude-resolved brightness temperature maps from the Very Large Array radio observatory and NASA's Juno spacecraft Microwave Radiometer taken between 2013 and 2018 ...

Measurements of the dielectric properties of sea water at 1.43 GHz [PDF]
Salinity and temperature of water surfaces of estuaries and bay regions are determined to accuracies of 1 ppt salinity and 0.3 kelvin surface temperature. L-band and S-band radiometers are used in combination as brightness temperature detectors.

The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.
