Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensors Based on Principle of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering

open access: yesProceedings of the International Conference on Applied Innovations in IT, 2021
The report is devoted to the analysis of distributed fiber-optic sensors based on the phenomenon of stimulated Brillouin scattering. They are of great interest for research due to their ability to measure the temperature and strains at superlong ...

Resonant Raman scattering theory for Kitaev models and their Majorana fermion boundary modes

open access: yes, 2016
We study the inelastic light scattering response in two- (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) Kitaev spin-liquid models with \ms band structures in the symmetry classes BDI and D leading to protected gapless surface modes. We present a detailed calculation of

Slowing of pulses to c/10 with subwatt power levels and low latency using Brillouin amplification in a bismuth-oxide optical fiber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report the generation of slow light using Brillouin amplification in a short length of highly nonlinear bismuth-oxide fiber. By using just 2m of fiber, we demonstrate a five-fold reduction in group velocity for ~200ns pulses, which we believe to be a ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Optoacoustic lenses for lateral sub-optical resolution elasticity imaging

open access: yesPhotoacoustics
In this paper, we demonstrate for the first time the focusing of gigahertz coherent phonon pulses propagating in water using picosecond ultrasonics and Brillouin light scattering. We achieve this by using planar Fresnel zone plate and concave lenses with

Entanglement in the Process of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering of Light

open access: yes, 2002
The process of stimulated Brillouin scattering is described by the model of two-dimensional oscillator. The phenomenon of entanglement which appears in the photon-phonon modes after the interaction with matter is discussed.Comment: 4 pages ...

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

Gapless Superconductivity From Extremely Dilute Magnetic Disorder in 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx hosts gapless superconductivity at unexpectedly low magnetic impurity concentrations. Combining STM, Bogoliubovde Gennes simulations, DFT, and quasiparticle interference, we comprehensively study the development of gapless behavior and show that SeS substitution reshapes the band structure, enhances nesting, and drives ...
