A bio‐inspired biopolymeric implantable drug delivery platform enables localized and sustained release of 7‐ethyl‐10‐hydroxycamptothecin (SN‐38) in solid tumor treatment. The three‐dimensional (3D) structured crosslinked‐chitosan implants are fabricated via 3D‐printed molds and provide drug release over 3 months, significantly inhibiting tumor growth ...

Prediction of subsurface damage of endless diamond wire sawing YAG crystal
The material performance and the service life of YAG (Y3Al5O12) crystal are reduced due to subsurface damage.Based on the classical fracture mechanics model of brittle solids and the formula to calculate median crack depth, it is found out that the ...

Application Study of Peridynamics Theory in Failure Analysis of Brittle Material
Based on the motion equation in integral form, Peridynamics (PD) is the non-local continuum mechanics theory, filling the gap of traditional damage mechanics theory to some extent in terms of theoretical framework and algorithm, and developing into the ...

Rain erosion damage in brittle materials
Abstract In order to understand the processes involved in the high-velocity rain erosion of brittle materials the impact damage produced in soda-lime-silica glass by single and multiple jet impact was studied. The damage was quantified by measuring the post-impact strength of specimens.

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

Mechanisms of Degradation in Li‐Ion Batteries Under Low Temperature Exposures
Low‐temperature exposures, or freeze‐thaw cycles, are observed to significantly accelerate the degradation of Li‐ion batteries. A combination of electrolyte phase separation and mechanochemical stress leads to reversible and irreversible performance losses.
