Broadband wavelength conversions using broadband SOAs
LEOS 2001. 14th Annual Meeting of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (Cat. No.01CH37242), 2002Future wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) networks using a large number of wavelengths will need wavelength conversions between those wavelengths. Broadband wavelength conversions between 1300 nm and 1550 nm represent a milestone of such a capability.

Broadband photophoretic spectroscopy
Optics Letters, 1980A means for obtaining broadband photophoretic spectra is described. The sensitivity of the technique is found in accordance with radiometric theory to increase markedly with pressure reduction below 1 atm. Noise oscillation induced by radiometric torques is contained through the use of electronic damping.

Broadband spin echoes and broadband SIFTER in EPR
Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2015Applications of broadband pulses for EPR have been reported for FID, echo detection and inversion pulses recently. Here we present a broadband Hahn, stimulated and refocused echo sequence derived from adiabatic pulses. The formation of echoes is accomplished by using variable chirp rates and pulse lengths.

Broadband Birefringent Metainterfaces
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics 2012, 2012We report broadband birefringent metainterfaces comprising 2D arrays of phased optical antennas that can create light beams with arbitrary polarization states and arbitrary propagation directions over a wide spectral range (from λ=5 to 14 μm).

Broadband attosecond pulse shaping
2007 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, 2007We use semiconductor (Si) and metallic (Al, Zr) transmission filters to shape, in amplitude and phase, high-order harmonics generated from the interaction of an intense titanium sapphire laser field with a pulsed neon gas target. Depending on the properties of the filter, the emitted attosecond pulses can be optimized in bandwidth and/or pulse length ...

Is broadband land seismic as good as marine broadband?
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2013, 2013To evaluate the potential of modern land seismic capabilities and further improve the seismic value for the mining industry, AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) has acquired a prospect area of 35 km2. The geological objective of this test is to image the formations above and below the Ventersdorp Control Reef (VCR) and down to the carbon leader reef, for depths ...

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
The United States has recently reinvigorated its efforts to promote ubiquitous broadband at affordable prices for all Americans by both committing over $7.2 billion in stimulus funds and by requiring the Federal Communications Commission to issue a “National Broadband Plan.” The big policy question is how do we evaluate the success or failure of these ...

Broadband Electronic Switching
Photonic Switching, 1989As we seek application for photonic technology in future broadband switching systems we must be aware of the changing nature of switching. While circuit switching will continue to find application in telecommunications facilities protection, network rearrangement, and in providing very high speed channels to subscribers, a packetlike transport called ...
