Low-Noise Broadband Microbarometers

2009
The term infrasound sensor mainly stands for the elements of an infrasound measuring chain, which are located between the wind-generated noise reducer and the recorder. It measures pressure changes over a very large dynamic range and delivers a dynamic signal suited to the associated recorder whose input range is limited.

Broadband Low-Noise Amplifiers

2017
Although some configurations were already mentioned in Chap. 5 (mostly, feedback configurations), the techniques to turn narrowband LNAs into broadband LNAs are the topic of this chapter. The chapter opens with a discussion of some popular RF broadband topologies, their general circuit diagrams and their advantages and disadvantages.

Signal detection in non-stationary broadband noise

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
An algorithm for signal detection across a wide band of frequencies in which the noise statistics may be considered stationary only over very short intervals is proposed. The algorithm estimates the noise level in each channel of a channelized receiver, based on the levels in the quietest channels, after compensating for time-varying passband ripple ...

A broadband RF noise generator

IRE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1955
A simple broadband noise generator was constructed which produced substantial noise power over the frequency range from 10 mc to 1,000 mc. The measured noise factors were 90 db or better over this range. The noise was generated by an electric arc discharge that operated in a conventional RC relaxation oscillator circuit.

N1-P2 Recordings to Gaps in Broadband Noise

Journal of the American Academy of Audiology, 2013
Background:Normal temporal processing is important for the perception of speech in quiet and in difficult listening situations. Temporal resolution is commonly measured using a behavioral gap detection task, where the patient or subject must participate in the evaluation process.

Broadband self-noise from a ducted fan

AIAA Journal, 1998
This paper describes the prediction of broadband self noise from ducted fans. The source mechanism is assumed to be the interaction of the turbulent boundary layer with the trailing edges of the fan blades. The source levels are obtained from the measurements of self noise from isolated blades by Brooks, Pope and Marcolini and these are corrected to ...

Multirotor broadband noise modulation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America
Rotor broadband noise spectra are typically analyzed over time scales on the order of one or more rotor periods. However, modulation of the broadband noise spectrum with the blade passage frequency (BPF) has been shown to be significant for noise levels and perception of wind turbines and helicopters.

Fundamental noise limits in broadband Raman amplifiers

OFC 2001. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest Postconference Edition (IEEE Cat. 01CH37171), 2001
We show that broadband discrete Raman amplifiers based on silica-germania will have a noise figure significantly greater than the quantum limit. We also present temperature measurements on a broadband distributed Raman amplifier using asymmetrically-spaced pumps.

Noise optimization of a broadband LNA for tuner applications

Proceedings of 2013 International Conference on IC Design & Technology (ICICDT), 2013
Based on shunt - series feedback topology, a 10dB broadband low noise amplifier is developed for tuner front end applications. With such gain, low noise operation with high linearity is a challenging specification. In this paper, it is shown that there is a direct relation between gain and minimum noise figure under input/output simultaneous matching ...
