The Nutritional Value of Moldy Grains for Broiler Chicks
The effect was determined of mold development in corn and sorghum grains on their lipid content and nutritional value for broiler chicks. The grains, whole or ground, with their original moisture content (12.1 to 13.0%) or increased moisture content (15.0% moisture), were stored for 63 to 96 days prior to their incorporation into the diets fed to the ...

Influence of Monensin and Salinomycin on the Performance of Broiler Chicks
Because monensin and salinomycin are widely used to control coccidiosis, two experiments were conducted to compare the performance of broiler chicks when these compounds were added to the diet. Five levels of each coccidiostat were fed. Increasing the levels of coccidiostat resulted in a decrease in body weight and feed intake.

Influence of Ochratoxin A and Deoxynivalenol on Growing Broiler Chicks
The effects of feeding diets containing ochratoxin A (OA) (2.0 mg/kg) and deoxynivalenol (DON) (16 mg/kg) singly and in combination were characterized in male broiler chicks from 1 to 3 wk of age. Body weight gains and efficiency of feed utilization were significantly reduced by feeding OA singly, DON singly, and the OA/DON combination.

Precipitated Bone Phosphate in Broiler Chick Diets
Day-old Cobb x Cobb broiler chicks were housed in battery brooders for 21-day feeding periods during two experiments. Dietary treatments consisted of a corn-soybean starter feed (.37% total; .14% nonphytin phosphorus) supplemented with 0, .05, .10, .15, or .28% phosphorus in the form of dicalcium phosphate, precipitated bone phosphate, or a mixture of ...

Effect of Dietary Fructose on Broiler Chick Performance
The effect of feeding various levels of dietary fructose, furnished by high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), to broiler-type chicks housed in Petersime batteries was studied in two experiments. In experiment 1, HFCS was added to a corn-soybean meal basal diet at levels of 0, 5, 10, and 15%. In Experiment 2, HFCS was added to the diet at levels of 0, 2, 4, 6,
