Nutritional and Performance Effects of Partial Replacement of Maize With Cassava Root (Manihot esculenta Crantz) Meal in Broiler Diets

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Partial replacement of maize with cassava root meal (CRM) improved growth performance, carcass traits, antioxidant activity, meat quality, and sensory acceptability in broiler chickens. Among all treatments, 10% CRM supplementation showed optimal feed efficiency, water‐holding capacity, and antioxidant status without adverse health effects, indicating ...

Influence of Virginiamycin on Phosphorus Utilization by Broiler Chicks

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1985
An experiment was conducted with day-old Cobb feather-sexed chicks to determine the influence of virginiamycin on phosphorus. When the average of the three levels of phosphorus were combined, utilization, body weights, and bone ash at 21-days of age were improved by the addition of virginiamycin to the diet.

Crataegus oxyacantha Extract Enhances Cardiac Adaptation and Reduces Oxidative‐Inflammatory Stress in Broiler Chickens Raised at High Altitude Under Cold Stress

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Crataegus oxyacantha extract at 0.4 mL/L improved cardiac function in broilers under cold stress and high altitude by increasing nitric oxide synthase gene expression, boosting nitric oxide, reducing endothelin‐1 gene expression, and lowering oxidative‐inflammatory stress, offering a natural solution to mitigate pulmonary hypertension syndrome ...

Integrating Serological and Molecular Data to Characterize Fowl Adenovirus Associated With Inclusion Body Hepatitis in Broiler Chickens From Malaysia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
This study revealed the active circulation of fowl adenoviruses in broiler farms in Sabah, Malaysia. FAdV‐8b and FAdV‐11 were identified in flocks with IBH lesions, accompanied by high antibody titres in unvaccinated birds. Phylogenetic analysis showed close relationships with global strains, highlighting the need for enhanced surveillance and control ...

Vitamin A Requirement of Broiler Chicks in Nigeria

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1981
Feeding of a vitamin A deficient diet resulted in cessation of growth of RIR chicks at between 19 and 24 days of age. When depleted chicks were fed graded levels of vitamin A acetate it was observed that the minimum requirement was 90 IU/100 g of diet. Trials with four commercial strains of broiler chicks revealed strain differences with respect to the

Thyme Essential Oil and Hyaluronic Acid as Natural Disinfectant Alternatives for Broiler Breeder Fertile Eggs: Effects on Eggshell Microbial Load, Embryonic Viability and Hatchability

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Natural eggshell sanitation using thyme essential oil reduced microbial contamination and lipid peroxidation while improving embryo viability and hatchability in stored broiler breeder fertile eggs. These findings support thyme essential oil as a promising residue‐free alternative for hatchery egg sanitation.
