Conceptual representation of cave entrances as ecological filters along the epigean forest–cave continuum in Neotropical quartzite systems. Vascular plant richness declines sharply from the well‐lit, organic‐rich forest toward the low‐light, quartz‐rich cave interior, while community composition and β‐diversity are shaped by the combined effects of ...

Bromelia karatas and Bromelia pinguin: sources of plant proteases used for obtaining antioxidant hydrolysates from chicken and fish by-products [PDF]
AbstractIn the present study, we evaluated new sources of plant proteases from fruits of Bromelia karatas (BK) and Bromelia pinguin (BP) to obtain antioxidant hydrolyzates/bioactive peptides (BPs) derived from chicken by-products (CH) and fish by-products (FH).

The height at which epiphytic bromeliads are found affects the invertebrate community composition within them. The size of epiphytic bromeliads is positively correlated with species richness of both aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates. Whether bromeliads were found in primary or secondary forest did not have a significant effect on the community of ...

The graphical abstract illustrates a flower classification model relying on the human visual system. The model captures images, simulates visual attention and photometric perception, extracts features of shape and color, and classifies flowers by using an optimized neural network that enhances recognition accuracy by mimicking the human eye's focusing ...

Bromelia pinguin (wild pineapple).
Abstract Bromelia pinguin is a large, perennial bromeliad with spikey fronds that grow up to two metres long. It often grows in dense colonies. It is native to the Neotropical Region but has been introduced as an ornamental to Florida, Hawaii and other Caribbean islands as well as India and Sri Lanka.

Cave environments filter plant traits, selecting thinner, smaller leaves with reduced photosynthetic and vascular structures. Abstract Caves present unique ecological conditions that influence the distribution and adaptation of species, yet studies on cave‐associated vegetation remain limited.
