Tunable Thermoshrinkable Hydrogels for 4D Fabrication of Cell‐Seeded Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoresponsive polymer with methacrylate groups for photo‐cross‐linking, based on polyethylene glycol, N‐isopropylacrylamide, and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate is synthetized to yield hydrogels that shrink upon temperature increase. The new polymer enables the fabrication of cell‐laden perfusable channels with diameters below 200 µm by combining ...

Design, evaluation and recommedation effort relating to the modification of a residential 3-ton absorption cycle cooling unit for operation with solar energy [PDF]

open access: yes
The possible use of solar energy powered absorption units to provide cooling and heating of residential buildings is studied. Both, the ammonia-water and the water-lithium bromide cycles, are considered. It is shown that the air cooled ammonia water unit

Fast Neutron Detector Based on Hybrid 2D Perovskite Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the direct detection of fast neutrons using flexible hybrid 2D perovskite (PEA2PbBr4) thin‐film detectors. Thanks to their high low‐Z elements content and good charge transport, these materials enable efficient neutron detection. The thin film configuration allowed the operation at low voltage, and offer scalability, flexibility, and

Cattle trampling reduces the risk of nitrate leaching in organic dairy rotations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Organic dairy farming is characterized by grazing cows in contrast to Danish conventional farms where the majority of cows are kept indoors. Cattle trampling reduces the finer macroporosity in the top 5-10 cm of the soil.

Advanced Nano‐Fibrillated Cellulose/Modified MXene Janus Membrane for Continuous 24‐h Water‐Power Co‐Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Janus membrane integrates a superhydrophilic CNF@CTAB‐MXene layer with a superhydrophobic PTFE layer, enabling efficient solar‐driven water evaporation and electricity generation. It achieves an evaporation rate of 1.51 kg m−2 h−1 with excellent salt resistance and long‐term stability.
