Effects of Dietary Bromide, Magnesium and Tryptophan and Immunocastration on Growth Performance and Behaviour of Entire Male Pigs

open access: yesAnimals
The growth of boars may be inhibited because of aggressive and/or sexual activity. Dietary Br, Mg and tryptophan (Trp) as well as immunocastration may reduce these behaviours. In Experiment 1, 200 boars and 40 barrows were allocated to six groups of four

Bis(2-chlorobenzyl)dimethylammonium bromide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
In the title compound, C16H18Cl2N+·Br−, the dihedral angle between the aromatic ring planes is 57.73 (5)°. In the absence of any strong hydrogen bonds, the structure results from a large number of competing weaker ...

Fast Neutron Detector Based on Hybrid 2D Perovskite Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the direct detection of fast neutrons using flexible hybrid 2D perovskite (PEA2PbBr4) thin‐film detectors. Thanks to their high low‐Z elements content and good charge transport, these materials enable efficient neutron detection. The thin film configuration allowed the operation at low voltage, and offer scalability, flexibility, and

A Critical Evaluation of the Role of the Precursor Complex and Counterions in Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles in Micellar Media [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We demonstrate here that the gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) obtained in micellar solutions are susceptible to the precursor complex nature and specific counterion effects controlling the reaction kinetics, particles size and shape. The tested approach consisted in reducing the HAuCl4 complex with ascorbic acid or citric acid in dodecyltrimethylammonium ...

Advanced Nano‐Fibrillated Cellulose/Modified MXene Janus Membrane for Continuous 24‐h Water‐Power Co‐Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Janus membrane integrates a superhydrophilic CNF@CTAB‐MXene layer with a superhydrophobic PTFE layer, enabling efficient solar‐driven water evaporation and electricity generation. It achieves an evaporation rate of 1.51 kg m−2 h−1 with excellent salt resistance and long‐term stability.

Behavior of aqueous Tetrabutylammonium bromide - a combined approach of microscopic simulation and neutron scattering [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Aqueous solution of tetrabutylammonium bromide is studied by quasi-elastic neutron scattering, to give information on the dynamic modes involving the ions present. Using a careful combination of two techniques, time-of-flight (TOF) and neutron spin echo (NSE), we de- couple the dynamic information in both the coherently and incoherently scattered ...
