A Floristic Study of the Vascular Plants of the Gypsum Hills and Redbed Plains Area of Southwestern Oklahoma

open access: yesOklahoma Native Plant Record, 2008
The vascular floras of gypsum and redbed soils in southwestern Oklahoma were collected and studied during the growing season (April-October) of 1975. A total of 359 taxa and 230 genera and 63 families were included in the study.

Beyond the Paddy Fields: Riparian Reed Beds as Essential Natural Habitat for the Critically Endangered Suweon Treefrog, Dryophytes suweonensis

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
This figure shows the true habitat type of Dryophytes suweonensis that this paper aims to demonstrate. ABSTRACT The Suweon treefrog (Dryophytes suweonensis (Kuramoto, 1980)), a critically endangered amphibian endemic to the Korean Peninsula, is widely regarded as being closely associated with rice paddies.

Mountain Croplands as Biodiversity Refugia: External Ecotones in the Central Tian‐Shan of Kyrgyzstan Warrant Conservation Priority

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
External ecotones are local hotspots across cultural and natural landscapes. Floral composition reflects external ecotones and regional species pool influence. Patchy mountain croplands are essential for long‐term conservation strategies. ABSTRACT The Mountains of Central Asia constitute one of the world's most vulnerable yet least protected ...

Detection Range of Acoustic Monitoring Devices in an Open Grassland Ecosystem

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Understanding acoustic recording units (ARUs) detection space in different environments is essential to advancing the reliability of passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) for avian population monitoring. In this study, we used a distance‐based broadcasting method at seven distances from ARUs in grassland systems to calculate the optimal detection distance ...

Effects of Drought Stress and Species Variation on Carbon and Nitrogen Microbial Biomass and β-glucosaminidase Activity in the Rhizosphere of Grasses

open access: yesعلوم آب و خاک, 2021
Long-term drought effect is one of the main factors of global climate change, with  consequences for soil biogeochemical cycling of carbon and nitrogen and the  function of soil ecosystem under drought conditions.

In A Class of Their Own: Multiclass Random Forests Reveal Distinct Habitat Needs of Fledglings Relative to Adults in Two Grassland Birds

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Adults and juveniles across taxa often have unique habitat needs as a result of differing selective pressures during these periods, and such differences may inform the conservation and management of species. Here, we apply a novel multiclass analytic approach to compare the habitat use of nesting adults and fledglings in two declining grassland bird ...
