New isoquinolines as potential bronchodilator agents
Tetrahedron, 1973Abstract The syntheses of 5-hydroxy-6-hydroxymethyl, 6-hydroxy-7-hydroxymethyl and 7-hydroxy-6-hydroxymethyl-1-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines ( 1d ), ( 1b ) and ( 1c ) respectively, are described.

Humidification, Nebulization, and Bronchodilator Agents
1978These defense mechanisms include: (a) ciliary escalator system—the mucus carpet carrying microorganisms and small foreign particles at a normal rate of about 1 cm/min from bronchioles and bronchi to the larynx entrance, (b) coughing, and (c) phagocytosis—macrophages in alveoli clearing via interstitial spaces (lymphatics) and upward via the ciliary ...

In vitro studies on the relative potency of bronchodilator agents
Lung, 1985This study describes a rapid in vitro assay for the order of potency of bronchodilator drugs using specific binding of (−)-[3H] dihydroalprenolol ([3H]DHA) to rat lung membranes. Under linear conditions with respect to tissue, specific binding of [3H]DHA showed saturability, rapid kinetics of association and dissociation of radioligand, and ...

[Inhaled bronchodilators and mucolytic agents in cystic fibrosis].
Archives de pediatrie : organe officiel de la Societe francaise de pediatrie, 2004Poor clearance of airway secretions contributes to the pulmonary disease in cystic fibrosis (CF). Bronchodilator therapy might benefit in CF, but the efficacy is controversial. Effects of mucolytic agents have not been demonstrated conclusively. Only, efficacy of recombinant human deoxyribonuclease (rhDNase) is established with a rapid onset of benefit.

[Measurement of the effect of a bronchodilator agent].
Schweizerische Rundschau fur Medizin Praxis = Revue suisse de medecine Praxis, 1990Response in a bronchodilator must be expressed by the combining the largest amplitude of response with the highest reproducibility. The forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) meets these conditions and thus represents the best test. The bronchodilator response is commonly expressed in percent of the initial FEV1.
