Clinical Value of Metagenomic Next‐Generation Sequencing Versus Conventional Methods in Diagnosing Cryptococcal Infection After Kidney Transplantation

This retrospective study evaluated metagenomic next‑generation sequencing (mNGS) against conventional methods (India ink, culture, antigen) for diagnosing cryptococcal infection in 16 kidney transplant recipients. mNGS showed a significantly higher positivity rate (93.8% vs 62.5%, p = 0.031) and shorter turnaround time (24 vs. 120 h, p < 0.001).
