Brood attendance and brood care in the Marbled Teal,Marmaronetta angustirostris
Brood attendance by adults in the globally threatened Marbled Teal Marmaronetta angustirostris was studied in the field in Spain and Turkey. In seven broods, only one adult (thought to be the female) was seen attending. Two adults were in attendance for 10 broods, amongst which all age classes were represented.

Supercompliant Lattice Boosts n‐type AgSbTe2 Thermoelectrics
The supercompliant lattice design enables the first realization of n‐type electrical transport in AgSbTe2 by overcoming intrinsic electron‐killer defects and exceeding the doping limits imposed by the conventional Hume–Rothery rule. Accordingly, the best performance n‐type Ag0.8Na0.3Sb0.6Bi0.4Te2 sample achieves a low κ of 0.27 W·m−1·K−1 that ...

Background In honey bee colony, the brood is able to manipulate and chemically control the workers in order to sustain their own development. A brood ester pheromone produced primarily by old larvae (4 and 5 days old larvae) was first identified as ...

Efficient Ambient‐All‐Laser‐Annealed Wide Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells
First demonstration of ambient laser annealing for both self‐assembly monolayer type hole transport layer and high bandgap (1.80eV) perovskite solar cells. First 3D modeling of macroscopic and localized temperature profiles revealed the advantage of laser annealing for temperature‐sensitive substrates.

The sight of an adult brood parasite near the nest is an insufficient cue for a honeyguide host to reject foreign eggs. [PDF]
Hosts of brood-parasitic birds typically evolve anti-parasitism defences, including mobbing of parasitic intruders at the nest and the ability to recognize and reject foreign eggs from their clutches.

A New Memory Effect in Bulk Crystals of 1T‐TaS2
A new memory effect is discovered in 1T‐TaS₂, appearing as a temperature shift in the metal to insulator transition, coinciding with the recently reported ramp reversal memory. These findings imply that ramp reversal memory is an emergent phenomenon, likely to appear in many different systems that share a few basic properties, which are discussed in ...

Honey bee colonies rapidly decline when confined to greenhouses, increasing pollination rental costs as they need to be replaced frequently. We tested a hive system with entrances that can be manipulated to direct bees inside or outside greenhouses ...

Fabrication of in situ polymer‐encapsulated stable perovskite patterns of arbitrary shapes and pixel arrays with a resolution of 80 nm is reported by the femtosecond (fs) laser (800 nm) super‐resolution writing technique. The two‐photon absorption‐induced laser ablation is attributed to the achieved feature sizes as small as λ/10.
