OVARIECTOMY IN A BROOK TROUT (SALVELINUS FONTINALIS)
Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, 2002A 1.7-kg mature, female brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) was diagnosed with egg retention. Eggs could not be manually stripped and so were surgically removed. To prevent future complications, bilateral ovariectomy was performed. Complications were minimal, and the fish resumed eating within 2 days.
