Dilution-induced lag violates a fundamental assumption of the dilution assay by modifying phytoplankton growth.

open access: yes, 2023
(a) Dunaliella tertiolecta dilution series in cultures without predators show negative slopes due to dilution-induced lagged growth. Emiliania huxelyi suspended in artificial media devoid of inhibitors or predators in (b) 200 μL microtiter plate and (c ...

Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of 4-oxo-thiazolidine compounds

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2016
A series of compounds 4-oxo-thiazolidine derivatives AJ5a–j were synthesized by condensation reactions. The structure of synthesized compounds was characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopy.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Exploring the influence of lactoferrin on wound healing and related signaling pathways: a systematic review

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lactoferrin promotes wound healing by activating MAPK, PI3K/Akt, and extracellular matrix pathways, enhancing fibroblast remodeling, proliferation, and re‐epithelialization. These mechanisms highlight its therapeutic potential in inflammation control, tissue repair, and remodeling.

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

INADEQUANCY OF MODIFIED CHECKERBOARD TECHNIQUE TO DETECT ANTAGONISM BETWEEN NITROFURANTOIN AND NALIDIXIC ACID AGAINST ESCHERICHIA COLI

open access: yesZagazig Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1994
The in vitro combined antibacterial effect of nitrofurantoin and nalidixic acid was assessed using seven strains of Escherichia coli. Checkerboard broth dilution methods for determining bacteriostatic or bactericidal effects as well as the agar diffusion
