Hierarchically Rough rGO/HAp Nanocoatings on SLM Ti–6Al–4 V Implants for Enhanced Biointegration

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study investigates HAp/rGO bioactive coatings on Ti‐6Al‐4V fixation implants fabricated by selective laser melting with systematically varied volumetric energy density to tailor the as‐built surface state. Composite coatings were deposited by electrophoretic deposition and characterized using micro‐CT, profilometry, FESEM/EDS, and detailed XPS to ...

Efficient Synthesis and Antibacterial Evaluation of (±)-Yanglingmycin and Its Analogues

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
An efficient synthetic route was developed for the large-scale preparation of (±)-Yanglingmycin and its analogues. Three series of derivatives of (±)-Yanglingmycin were synthesized and the structures of all compounds were elucidated by analyses of NMR ...

Programmable 3D Microfluidics Reveals Motility‐Driven Antibiotic Resistance Evolution in Gradients

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Using a programmable microfluidic platform, this study shows that bacterial motility is crucial for resistance development in heterogeneous antibiotic landscapes. Motile Escherichia coli randomly migrates along antibiotic gradients, and sufficient movement is required for resistance to emerge.

Antibacterial Evaluation of Some Schiff Bases Derived from 2-Acetylpyridine and Their Metal Complexes

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
A series of Schiff bases derived from 2-acetylpyridne and their metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, NMR, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectral studies. The complexes were screened for anti-bacterial activity against Methicillin-resistant <em&

Population analysis of Escherichia coli isolates with discordant resistance levels by piperacillin-tazobactam broth microdilution and agar dilution testing

open access: yes, 2014
Population analysis was performed for 42 Escherichia coli isolates to determine whether heterogeneity of resistance was a factor in piperacillin-tazobactam category differences between agar dilution and broth microdilution.

Tailoring MXene Flake Morphology via Aerosol Jet Printing for Biological and Strain Sensor Applications

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Aerosol Jet Printing (AJP), coupled with a novel in situ monitoring method, enabled the controlled fabrication of aligned and crumpled Ti3C2Tx MXenes for diverse applications. Demonstrated across multiple 2D materials, this scalable strategy stablishes flake morphology as a controllable design parameter for engineering application‐specific material ...

Comparison of Etest, agar dilution, broth microdilution and disk diffusion methods for testing in vitro activity of levofloxacin against Staphylococcus spp. isolated from neutropenic cancer patients

open access: yes, 2002
-The susceptibility to levofloxacin of 194 consecutive staphylococcal (45 Staphylococcus aureus and 149 coagulase-negative staphylococci) isolates from neutropenic patients was determined by Etest and the results compared with those obtained using NCCLS ...

Dual‐Component Spidroin‐Based Hydrogels: A Mechanically Tunable Platform for 2D and 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A dual‐component recombinant spider silk hydrogel platform was developed by combining NT2RepCT with a bioactive vitronectin‐functionalized spidroin domain. The hydrogels self‐assemble under physiological conditions, exhibit tunable mechanical properties, and support 2D and 3D cell culture, providing a versatile platform for mechanobiological studies ...
