Shows the spatiotemporal predictability of wintering eiders based on monitoring data from 1993–2023 with intertidal and subtidal Marine Protected Areas (yellow and green, respectively), and a depiction of the current mismatch between eider hotspots and protection measures. Abstract Migratory animals often follow predictable spatiotemporal distributions

Redescription of Cercopithifilaria bainae Almeida & Vicente, 1984 (Spirurida, Onchocercidae) from a dog in Sardinia, Italy [PDF]
Background Three species of the genus Cercopithifilaria have been morphologically and molecularly characterized in dog populations in southern Europe: Cercopithifilaria grassii (Noè, 1907), Cercopithifilaria sp.

Incidence of Brown Dog Ticks, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, at a Kennel in Okayama Prefecture.
Twenty two adult dogs suffered from tick infestation at a kennel in Okayama Prefecture in the summer of 1994. Four of them had been introduced from U.S.A. Some dogs showed pyoderma, anemia, neutrophilia or eosinophilia. Neither Babesia gibsoni nor Hepatozoon canis was detected on the smear samples of peripheral blood.

Biological Studies on the Brown Dog Tick, Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Latreille) [PDF]
Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Latreille, 1806) was reared under laboratory conditions of27± 3° C and 75± 5% R. H., for three generations. The mean of life cycle duration was 41- 73 days. The conversion efficiency index (CEI) was 0.3130± 0.173, the reproductive efficiency index (REI) was 33257.9± 14895.7 and the reproductive fitness index (RFI) was 9288 ...

We assessed attraction of eight elaterid species to a “generic” pheromone blend containing their eight known pheromones or sex attractants. All eight species were attracted by their specific attractants, as expected. Six species were attracted to the blend, but the remaining two species were strongly inhibited by unknown blend components.

ABSTRACT Introduction This study evaluated and compared the effectiveness of a novel 3D imaged models (3D IMs) and physical reference models in supporting student learning of indirect tooth preparations. Materials and Methods Fourth‐year dental students from 2021 (N = 69) and 2022 (N = 54) received access to 3D IMs and real‐sized plastic models ...

DNA damage in the tardigrade Hypsibius exemplaris elicits distinct cellular outcomes depending on replication status. While non‐replicating cells tolerate genotoxic stress, constitutively replicating cells undergo irreversible replication failure upon DNA damage, leading to loss of tissue homeostasis, fat depletion, sterility, and organismal death ...

Metagenomic profiling of ticks: Identification of novel rickettsial genomes and detection of tick-borne canine parvovirus [PDF]
Background: Across the world, ticks act as vectors of human and animal pathogens. Ticks rely on bacterial endosymbionts, which often share close and complex evolutionary links with tick-borne pathogens.
