Mutual fund director compensation

open access: yesJournal of Financial Research, EarlyView.
Abstract We examine director compensation using a large sample of hand‐compiled U.S. mutual fund data. We find that director compensation is positively correlated with observable productive characteristics—workload, experience, and demographics—that capture the benefits from the directors’ monitoring effort.

Robust CDF‐Filtering of a Location Parameter

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a novel framework for designing robust filters associated with signal plus noise models having symmetric observation density. The filters are obtained by a recursion where the innovation term is a transform of the cumulative distribution function of the residuals.

Typhoid Toxin of Salmonella enterica Induces ISG15 Responses Mediating Host Cell Survival and Counteracting Intracellular Infection

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
Toxigenic Salmonella enterica exocytose the typhoid toxin during infection causing host cell DNA damage, which activates a Type‐1 Interferon‐like response characterised by interferon‐stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) expression. ISG15 was required for host cell survival during Interferon responses and suppressed intracellular growth of Salmonella. Thus, ISG15

Playing for Keeps: Long‐Term Recall With an Application Using Virtual Reality and the Method of Loci

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Strategies that provide spatial context to study material have been successfully utilized combined with virtual 3D technology to improve memory and learning. However, research suggests that memory enhancement effects relying on visualization may be of a short‐term nature.
