Gender and Language, 2012
Advertisements are a key site for gender and language study, many ads constructing relationships between femininity and consumption, and gender relations of a (hetero) sexual nature. In this paper I look in a qualitative way at how two ads in the form of ‘tiny texts’ indirectly index gender inflected with both ethnicity and sexuality. Printed on sugar

On Preventing Sugar-Coated Tablets from Browning
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1999The phenomenon of browning occurs gradually in the white sugar-coating layer (comprised of sucrose, talc, and powdered acacia) when the coating is applied on a large scale. We found that this phenomenon is negligible on sugar-coated tablets when they are prepared on a small scale. The smoothing layer prepared on a small scale is nearly as opaque as the

Glycemic response of coconut sugar, sucrose and brown sugar in healthy subjects
2023Diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which blood sugar (glucose) levels are abnormally high because the body does not produce enough insulin to meet its needs. The world population with Diabetes mellitus is estimated to be about 387 million and may reach 471 million in 2035.

Effective production of fermentable sugars from brown macroalgae biomass
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2016Brown macroalgae are renewable and sustainable biomass resources for the production of biofuels and chemicals, owing to their high levels of carbohydrates and low levels of lignin. To increase the biological usage of brown macroalgae, it is necessary to depolymerize the polysaccharides that generate macroalgal monomeric sugars or sugar derivatives and ...

New Value-Added Sugar and Brown Sugar Products from Sugarcane: A Commercial Approach
Sugar Tech, 2020The conventional sugar market is relatively homogeneous, consisting of edible products such as refined white sugar and brown sugar. A high level of health consciousness has been developed in recent years among human beings for sugar intake. Therefore, Sugarcane Research Institute of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (YSRI), China, has started ...

Maillard Browning of Common Amino Acids and Sugars
Journal of Food Science, 1984ABSTRACT Common amino acids and amide derivatives have been ranked according to the intensity of Maillard browning formed when heated in an autoclave at 121°C for 10 min, under identical conditions, with each of the sugars D‐ribose, D‐glucose, D‐fructose, α‐lactose and sucrose.

Enzymatic saccharification of brown seaweed for production of fermentable sugars
Bioresource Technology, 2016This study shows that high drying temperatures negatively affect the enzymatic saccharification yield of the brown seaweed Saccharina latissima. The optimal drying temperature of the seaweed in terms of enzymatic sugar release was found to be 30°C. The enzymatic saccharification process was optimized by investigating factors such as kinetics of sugar ...
