Systematic Literature Review Identifying Core Genera in the Gut Microbiome of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and Species‐level Microbial Community Analysis Using Long‐Read Amplicon Sequencing

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is an important fish in global aquaculture. Various feed additives to suppress disease or reduce fish meal use have been studied. These manipulations influence the gut microbiome, which is considered to be linked to host health.

Pathogen and Gene Expression Profiles of Atlantic Salmon From an Endangered Population

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 35, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The role of pathogens in impacting the behaviour and fate of salmonids has been studied extensively for some selected pathogens such as sea lice. However, the whole pathobiome of the fish are seldom considered and may confound and influence the study species in situ.

Assessment of Taxonomic and Functional Diversity of Mayfly Assemblages Along the Course of a Large European River

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 35, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Large rivers are complex freshwater systems with high habitat heterogeneity providing home and resources for numerous species. Even though they are considered biodiversity hotspots, our knowledge about the ecological requirements of inhabiting biota is still not sufficient.

Trophic Plasticity of the Invasive Redbelly Tilapia (Coptodon zillii) in China Inferred From DNA Metabarcoding Analysis

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
The feeding patterns of invasive populations of C. zillii in different habitats and seasons within a large‐scale geographic area (spanning 9.86° latitude and 10.47° longitude) in China were directly compared. ABSTRACT The redbelly tilapia (Coptodon zillii) is one of the most dangerous invasive alien fishes in the world.

Identification, Detection, and the Enhanced Removal Mechanism of DDT From Aqueous Solutions Using Facile Green Synthesis of Carbon Quantum Dots

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2025.
Removal of DDT from Aqueous solution using Carbon Quantum Dots. ABSTRACT Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) pollution is an ongoing worldwide environmental hazard due to its persistence and detrimental impact on ecosystems. Carbon quantum dots (CQD) made from dried mushroom biomass using a sustainable and eco‐friendly synthesis process are ...

Characterization of Acid‐Soluble Collagen From By‐Product Bones of European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio)

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
Extraction of collagen from sea bass and common carp bone waste is a cost‐effective and sustainable way to utilize valuable protein by reducing waste disposal costs. Both collagens contain glycine as the main amino acid with relatively high content of proline, alanine, hydroxyproline, arginine and glutamic acid.
