Exploring functional mechanisms underlying tumor initiation, EMT and cell migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death. A primary tumor forms when cells start to proliferate in an uncontrolled way and stop reacting to restraining signals.

A Rare Cause of Primary Hyperparathyroidism Presented with Giant Adenoma, Multiple Brown Tumors And End Stage Renal Failure

open access: yesMedicine Science, 2014
Single gland adenoma is the most common cause of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). Although PHPT is generally an asymptomatic disease detected by an incidental finding of hypercalcemia, overt skeletal disease, renal failure and huge adenoma that ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

BONE SEVERE FORM OF HYPERPARATHYROIDISM IN A PATIENT WITH ADENOMA OF PARATHYROID GLAND

open access: yesИсследования и практика в медицине, 2018
Hyperparathyroidism is one of the most common endocrinopathies. This disease leads to a violation of phosphorus-calcium metabolism and the washing out of calcium from bone tissue.

Engaging the Immune Response to Normalize the Tumor Microenvironment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Solid tumors exist as heterogeneous populations comprised not only of malignant cells, but various other cell types, including cells that make up the vasculature, that can strongly influence tumorgenicity.

Brown tumor of hyperparathyroidism Of anterior maxilla: case report: Case report

open access: yes, 2020
Hyperparathyroidism is characterized by the overproduction of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Hyperparathyroidism can be Primary, secondary and tertiary, In all these forms of hyperparathyroidism there is osteoclast mediated bone resorption which is caused by

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Brown Tumors of the Jaws: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesClinical Medicine Insights: Endocrinology and Diabetes, 2023
Objectives: (1) Describe the clinical spectrum, imaging features, management, and outcome of brown tumors (BT) of the jaws. (2) Determine via a literature review the facts and controversies around the characteristics and management of this lesion ...
