BRONCHIAL BRUSH BIOPSY WITH A CONTROLLABLE BRUSH

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1970
A controllable brush and a new controllable guide wire have been developed for selective bronchial catheterization and bronchial brush biopsy. The technique for using these instruments is described. This system offers 2 principal advantages over previous methods: it decreases the average time required for the examination; and it extends the range of the

The Brush and the Burin

2023
This chapter is an examination of the genre of “true portraits,” purported products of divine intervention. Their creators, who were usually Indigenous, were alienated from their creations because they were considered mere conduits of the divine. Emily C. Floyd analyzes the case of the “true portrait” reproduced in Juan María de Guevara y Cantos’s 1644

A Brush-Creeper

The Physics Teacher, 2006
In this note, we introduce a simple homemade toy called the brush-creeper, which can glide forward with no propellers, limbs, wheels, and seemingly no movement of any kind that can push forward against the ground. The toy arouses pupils' interest and their incentive to ask “Why?” in lessons related to friction.

Semiflexible polymer brushes and the brush-mushroom crossover

Soft Matter, 2015
Semiflexible polymers end-grafted to a repulsive planar substrate under good solvent conditions are studied by scaling arguments, computer simulations, and self-consistent field theory. Varying the chain length N, persistence length lp, and grafting density σg, the chain linear dimensions and distribution functions of all monomers and of the free chain

Molecular Bottlebrushes Featuring Brush-on-Brush Architecture

ACS Macro Letters, 2019
Molecular bottlebrushes featuring brush-on-brush (BoB) architecture were prepared by combining azide-alkyne click chemistry, ring-opening polymerization (ROP), and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Primary side chains of diblock copolymers with a poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) block and a poly(α-bromo-ε-caprolactone) (P(CL-Br)) block were ...
